The Wilcox Watershed Conservancy (WWC) is a non-profit organization established in 2007 as a result o a public-private partnership with the City of Petersburg and people from across Virginia to establish Legends Park and Nature Conservancy as a premier natural park for education and passive recreation for the benefit of community and region. With a commitment to establish a secure future for the park, the Petersburg City Council in 2004 adopted a master plan for the preservation of the site along with public improvements and educational and interpretive programs.

The park encourages individual responsibility, respect for the environment, and engenders a sense of wonderment that is too often missing from today’s frantic pace of life. The park itself is a flexible and organic tool, handily lending itself to teaching and encouraging topics such as natural conservancy and the importance of local flora and fauna. And it has much to teach us and our children; geologists and paleontologists have found sites and fossils that are several millions years old, and there are still may clues and mysteries within the park that have yet to be unearthed.

We must make every effort to make sure Legends Park and Nature Sanctuary and places like it are preserved and maintained for our children and future generations to come.

The WWC relies on your generous gifts to support its programs and activities, as well as the publication of our newsletter. Your donations also fund the development of new programs and the operating expenses of the Conservancy.
